My First Month Blogging – Google PR1

14 Flares 14 Flares ×

It’s been a month now since I started this blog, and I learned a lot throughout this time.

I’m writing this post to tell you guys that the only things you need to start blogging, is a willingness to work hard, and a lot of patience.
I made many mistakes when I started but eventually I figured things out.blogging achievements

The best thing I did before I started my blog was reading a very comprehensive SEO book, I had no idea what “SEO” meant before this. You can download this book from the GPI Facebook Group if you want to read it. And if you’re already there you can stop by the GPI Fanpage to say “Hello” to me, I would appreciate that.

Last week finally all my hard work paid off…I got Page Rank 1 on Google. I just wanted to tell you guys that I’m very excited about this thing. This is my first blogger achievement.

So what influenced the PR1 rank update for my blog? Well as most of you know Google’s major ranking factor is the number of backlinks your website has. I used this backlink building strategy which obviously paid off, and after that I moved to blog commenting which is a great way to bring traffic to your blog and make new friends. If you leave relevant and on topic comments people will look for your blog, search your profile on Facebook, on the blogger communities and connect with you. I made some great new friends in the blogosphere because of the comments I left on their blogs.

I also learned a lot about WordPress this month and found some great plugins to install on my blog. Among them is the free CommentLuv plugin which increased the comments on my blog posts, it’s a great way to give back to your readers.

So if you want to start a blog the time is now, don’t wait and let others take your great idea. If you are willing to work hard and be patient eventually it all pays off when you least expect it.

The Gain Profit Income Blog is hosted with Bluehost, and this is what I recommend to everyone. I’ve been taught that blogging means WordPress, and that is where Bluehost is the top choice for hosting.

Well that’s about it, I hope I haven’t bored you to death with my post, and if you took the time to read through the entire post I would be very thankful if you share it with your friends. Also I would like to know about your own blog’s changes due to the recent Google update, any PR changes, please use the comment box to tell me all about it.

  1. Hi Philip, Congrats on getting Page Rank so quickly. When I first started it took about 4 months. I guess my timing was off back then.
    Keep up the great work!!

    • Thank you Ileane, before this happened I asked everyone how long till the SEO campaigns kick in, and then when I saw PR1 I felt great to see all the hard work I’ve put into my blog so far finally pay off.

  2. Congratulations Philip on this achievement. I know if may not seem like much but it’s a huge accomplishment and you’re going no where but up.

I don’t recall how long it took me to be honest with you, I didn’t realize those things were important back then. If I had to start all over again though I would pay much more attention to how those things worked.

Again, congrats and keep up the excellent work.

    • Thank you very much Adrienne, I always enjoy reading your comments on my posts, actually you are the first person to comment on my blog ever.
I appreciate the fact that you always take the time to connect with other bloggers even if they’re just starting out.

Have a great day Adrienne, best of luck.

  3. Hi Philip do you remember me. I wrote a post at blogengage telling my faults and you appreciated me. Good to see that you are running a quailty blog over here. I too recently got pr 2. I guess its the quality which matters like getting links from pr 6 and 7 sites.

    • Hi George,

Yea the quality of the backlinks certainly matters, a lot in fact. I haven”t got any high PR backlinks till now but I”m working hard on building some for the next Google page rank update.

Thanks for your comment George, nice to see you on my blog.

  4. Congrats Philip on getting PR1 for your blog. I have been blogging from last 7 months and my nominal PR is still 1, but don’t know about the real one.

    Thanks for connecting with me.

    • Thank you Ehsan, it feels great win you see that all the hard work and time you put into building your blog finally pays off. I”ll be starting my backlinking campaing now to be ready for the next Google update and hopefully I can get a higher rank next time too.

Enjoy your week and thank you for your comment.

  5. I think you have done a good job. Getting a page rank is a mark of growing popularity. Well done to you and keep doing the good work.

    • Thank you Shalu, I am very excited of my progress, hopefully I can go higher when the next Google update comes. Oh, and I want to tell you that you have a beautiful website, I really like the graphics.

  6. Congrats, my blog is less than 20 days old and I’m targeting pagerank of 2 in my first month or two.

  7. I’ve just built a website and is now eairnng from Google Adsense but I’m making so much more from affiliate programs and freelancing. I’ve added a list of legitimate cool sites that are free. Check them out

  8. Hi Philip!

I really love what you’re doing here on GPI and if anyone still wondered about the effectiveness of commenting on other blogs in order to drive traffic – If you haven’t left inspiring words on my blog then I wouldn’t have even known about your site, and here I am!

I enjoyed reading your inspiring post Philip. I think getting a PR1 within your first month is a HUGE achievement and I’d like to congratulate you on that!

It’s been just about a month since launch day for my site and this post of yours have actually made some fire under my back-end to get going on some backlink strategy to get my rankings up as best as I can. I have to say that I’ve got a few good quality backlinks already but I have to admit – I could do with a lot more. I hope to achieve similar results than you have in terms of rankings.

I just checked and my current Alexa rank is just under 474k which is not too bad for a site that’s live for a month I guess.

Anyway, just liked your FB page and hopefully we can keep contact and keep inspiring one another!

Just curious – any particular reason why you’re not using CommentLuv any longer?

    All the best!

    • Hi Ruan, thank you for your awesome comment. Well I stopped using CommentLuv because it was the free version, and until I’ll have the money to buy the premium plugin I thought it was better for me to not use it.

I really love your website design, it’s very professional, hope I can do that for my blog very soon.

Take care, and Happy New Year!

      • Thanks for the kind words Philip; you sure seem to have a lot of those!

Yeah I have to admit that it helps a great deal to know your way around WordPress development and HTML :)

You are more than welcome to shout out to me if you need any help with your design; I’d be more than willing to help out where I can.

Happy New Year to you and your family as well!

P.S. I heard a little bird whisper into my ear that 2013 is going to be an excellent year for bloggers and freelance writers! :)

  12. Congrats Philip, getting PR1 in one month is such an amazing achievement, I’m after that too.

  13. Thanks for the tips… too bad your links are no-follow, would have been nice to have gotten another do-follow link. I will of course use your advice. I hope it works. Not sure how you are getting so many responses; maybe people don’t like me or the way I look to comment on my blogs LOL!
